I am still a fan of Roadster and their avant-garde creations, but they have to take a few points into consideration.
Since a lot of new restaurants are opening in town, I had to take a break from trying something new and go back to one of my favorite places, Roadster Diner. I wanted to try some of their new items and ensure that my opinion has not changed. Yes indeed, Roadster is still one of my favorites, especially with the new menu that has a lot of new creations that are simply mouthwatering.
This won't be another review discussing food taste and quality, since these details were emphasized in my previous endorsements for Roadster. But what I wanted to make a few points which hopefully will be taken into consideration so as to help keep the diner on top. Since the last menu was launched, opinions around town have been split between the lovers and haters of this move. A lot of loyal customers who have been eating at Roadster for the last 10 years found their favorite dishes removed from the menu, at a glance; while others have discovered new items they were eagerly waiting to taste... Was this a positive thing to do? I don't think so, as Roadster has lost some customers in the process.
A few points:
Their prices have increased. It is only obvious while paying for the total amount. You will notice a drastic change. While making the order you won't notice, as prices are discretely increased. When the new menu was changed there were different prices. They reprinted the same ones with higher prices. It's unacceptable in my opinion, when no prior notice was made. Concerning their delivery system, something has changed. Something we are not quite understanding. Unacceptable incidents that has made a lot of my friends stop ordering from Roadster and have moved to Crepaway, which has been improving it's home delivery system pretty fast. Before the change, asking to remove one ingredient and replacing it with another were welcomed and done professionally... but not anymore. I don't remember ever receiving an empty box of salad when lettuce was asked to be replaced with Pasta. I don't ever remember receiving a cold burger or cold fries stuck together and the list unfortunately continues...
At the restaurants, something bizarre happened as well; Roadster was the restaurant who has always set the trend of professionalism. Happy and smiley waiters who were only trained for customer satisfaction. What has happened? Was the game only for a 10-year period? What I think is that the staff are so busy and over whelmed with customers that the rules are being forgotten; but this can seriously damage the reputation. They should get more personnel or train their team more. I remember being welcomed with a smile, served with a joke until the moment we leave. I remember seeing a discreet staff walking around without opening conversations between them. I remember managers passing from one table to another to be sure not a single detail is missed. On my last visit to Roadster Le Mall, I had the delicious super sampler and tried the Cheese at Heart burger and the club sandwich. The food was good but not perfect. I miss the this WOW effect Roadster has built in our hearts for the last decade.
Don't misunderstand me. I still enjoy the place. The colors, the menu, the pictures on the menu, the place, the cleanliness, the decoration, the under plates to name a few. I am not saying that the restaurant is bad but maybe my comments will prevent things become worth. I am still a fan while it lasts.
As you may have noticed in my Top 10 Diners of Lebanon, Roadster is in second place as Crepaway, the main competitor, today, is tremendously improving. For the weekly accustomed clientele check out the new loyalty card and grab yours soon.
