Tomo serves:
- Dorayaki is a type of Japanese confection, a red-bean pancake which consists of two small pancake-like patties made from castella wrapped around a filling of sweet Azuki red bean paste.
- Wagashi are traditional Japanese confections that are often served with tea, especially the types made of mochi, anko, and fruits. Wagashi are typically made from plant-based ingredients.
I loved the Baba au Rhum, a long tower of whipped cream between two thin slices of moist cake soaked with Japanese Nikka whisky. The other two desserts (traditional Dorayaki filled with homemade Azuki) and the seasonal wagashi are not things my palate understood. I’m probably not used to Japanese desserts yet.
The pancake feels like Lebanese Katayeff filled with a red beans compote. The other dessert, a ball like the ice cream Mochi we know also filled with beans cream.
Feeling like trying something new, Tomo in Paris on Rue Chabanais.
