Served in the main hotel restaurant, breakfast opens at seven every morning proposing an open buffet of local and international choices. Start by a fizzy Prosecco drink, a coffee and indulge yourself in a wide selection of cold and hot choices. Classical music, warm lights, relaxing chairs; I had it all to be happy.
Mornings are very important! I believe hotels need to focus most of their effort to satisfy their clientele in the morning. If you wake up happy and enjoy a pleasant meal, this first impression will draw a smile on your face.
The restaurant can’t but be noticed; created using only two colors, the vibes transport you on a trip around the Mediterranean. Under a high ceiling, surrounded by glass arcades, set on a blue carpet around a middle island, the restaurant is a masterpiece of simple architecture. Leather sofas, blue chairs, white tablecloth and fine Churchill China couples with WMF cutlery.
Food; good food the way you expect it at a hotel. Cold cuts, cheeses, viennoiseries, croissants, yogurt and fruits, cereals and dried raisins. I walked around, took a handful of photos before taking the time to sit and enjoy the moment — smoked salmon, salami, anchovies, fresh cheeses, pickled eggs, and that big ham leg.
You can order for an additional charge: American pancakes, grilled fish killers, eggs royal and eggs Benedict. Excellent eggs!
I’ve been eating around the hotel for two days and allow me to say that their food is excellent! Made with love, using great ingredients, Maltese chefs working in the kitchens know exactly what they are doing. Tender with a lightly toasted crown, two English muffins host an egg each on a bed of salmon or smoked ham with a robe of hollandaise sauce. Good acidity, enjoyable creaminess, appropriate cooking time, flowing yolk and the needed amount of salt and pepper. I’m a fan of eggs Benedict, I’ve had them on my travels all around the world, and I can assure you that these are one of my favorites.
A pleasant morning... enjoyable music... attentive staff and good food; all what you need for a great start of a day. If you’re a food maniac like me booking your stays according to food choices and breakfast quality, this hotel shall be your choice.
